I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, licensed in the State of California, specializing in individual, couples and family therapy and I maintain a private practice in San Diego, California. With over fifteen years working with individuals, couples and families from a variety of cultures, backgrounds and lifestyles, I have the expertise and the experience integrating many types of therapy into my work. As a psychotherapist, counselor, educator, and consultant, I am experienced in the following therapies and select one or a combination of those that will best fit a client.
► Cognitive-behavioral - offering changes in thinking that keep you from moving
► Marital and Family Counseling - relationships are small systems where each person has the power to change the whole system.
► Psychodynamic - talking about dreams and other unconscious elements that when conscious may clear a path and offer answers.
► Jungian Depth Psychology - looking at the challenges and opportunities offered during the second half of life.
► Brief Solution-based - looking at the one problem that you may wish to resolve that may have quick answers and new options.
► Developmental Therapy - exploring, understanding and moving past a certain early stage of life that is affecting your life as an adult.
► Attachment Theory - exploring how early attachment to caregivers might be affecting your current relationships.
► Self-Psychology/Object Relations - establishing the unique Self you want to be based on your decisions and not the expectations of others.
I was in a long-term marriage, have a son and grandchildren, and for just as many years have experienced being single. I value relationships and family as the most important elements in our lives within which we grow and thrive. My maturity and insights gained over the years allow me to provide you not with answers, but with the many questions that will help you discover your own path. I can present options available to you as possible solutions to situations in your own life and relationships, but ultimately your decisions will direct your life.

For the past 35 years, I have worked in the non-profit and for-profit business world as a financial administrator. For the past 20 years, my career in business has run parallel to my profession as a psychotherapist. I experience the same day-to-day events and challenges as do my clients and I can relate with you on a real world level.
Every two years, to maintain my State of California Marriage and Family Therapist license and to keep current in my profession, I am required to complete 36 continuing education credits with 6 of those units mandated in Law and Ethics.
Every day neuroscience research gives new answers and poses new questions about the brain's physiology and human behavior, and keeping informed assures that I stay current and can integrate this new knowledge into my treatment.
